Introduction
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is the latest advancement in dental healing. It is a byproduct of your own blood that is rich in platelets, leukocytes, and growth factors. When placed directly into the surgical site, it jump-starts the healing process. Dr. Graves or Dr. Tran would be happy to discuss this option with you.
The Process (Simple & Fast)
The process is simple and is done entirely in our office during your appointment:
- Step 1: We draw a small amount of blood (similar to a routine lab test).
- Step 2: The blood is spun in a specialized centrifuge for about 10 minutes.
- Step 3: This separates the blood into layers. We extract the PRF clot—a yellow, jelly-like membrane packed with healing potential.
- Step 4: The PRF is placed directly into the extraction site or bone graft area.
Benefits of PRF
- Faster Healing: The concentrated growth factors stimulate rapid tissue regeneration.
- Less Pain: Patients often report significantly less post-operative pain and swelling.
- Better Bone Quality: This is crucial for patients planning future dental implants.
- 100% Natural: Since it comes from your own body, there is zero risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
